Tainted Angel Anne Cleeland

Tainted Angel
Anne Cleeland

1814: France is broke, and Napoleon is exiled on Elba -- but not for long. The very beautiful Vidia is a highly skilled British spy, posing as the mistress of one of the suspected co-conspirators and trying to stay one step ahead of the enemy. Her spymaster, however, suspects she is tainted -- a double agent working for Napoleon, and so he sets up an elaborate trap to shake out the truth. Matters are complicated by Vidia's attraction to Carstairs, her colleague who appears to have his own dark secrets. As the layers of deception are peeled back, she can never be certain which side he's on -- even though he's wound himself around her heart. It's a dangerous game they play, where the slightest misstep could set in motion consequences that could destroy them -- and destroy England.
