Bruno Michaud's design studio, BMD, was established in 2001, but in its techniques, style and aesthetic, it draws heavily on the pre-digital era that's been mythologized in our memory. In a world obsessed with technology, minimalism and modernism, Bruno's hand-drawn, rough and ready logos and lettering are a graphical respite: his tools of the trade are the traditional kind – rotring pens, scraps of paper, pencils, scissors, glue and brushes. His work is inspired by French commercials of the 1930s, vintage Americana, and the lettering styles of the past.

Working by hand gives Bruno's designs a sense of true craftsmanship, something that arouses real enthusiasm today and dovetails with the resurgence of interest in traditional methods in art. This volume showcases the best of BMD's designs for visual identities, packaging, posters, illustrations, and theatre design, as well as products including snowboards, motorcyle helmets, shoes and custom T-shirts.
