New to the second edition of volume four of The Broadview Anthology of British Literature are works of short fiction by Mary Shelley (“The Mortal Immortal”), James Hogg (“The Expedition to Hell”), John Polidori (“The Vampyre”), Matthew “Monk” Lewis (“The Anaconda”), and Sir Walter Scott (“My Aunt Margaret’s Mirror”). Thomas Paine appears in the anthology for the first time; other additions include Blake’s “the Song of Liberty,” several poems by Anna Letitia Barbauld, and a new “Contexts” section on “The Natural, the Beautiful, and the Sublime.”
