Genre, text, grammar: Technologies for teaching and assessing writing

A comprehensive reference text that examines how the three aspects of language (genre, text and grammar) can be used as resources in teaching and assessing writing. It provides an accessible account of current theories of language and language learning, together with practical ideas for teaching and assessing the genres and grammar of writing across the curriculum.

Peter Knapp has worked in literacy education for many years. Over that time he has written a range of books, articles and teaching materials on teaching and assessing writing. He is currently Director of the Educational Testing Centre and Associate Professor at the School of Education, University of New South Wales.

Megan Watkins is a Lecturer in Education at the University of Western Sydney. She has written a number of articles and curriculum materials on genre theory and literacy pedagogy.
